⁴⁴ And the king said to Shimei, “You know in your heart all the bad things you did to my father David. So the Lord will return your sin upon your own head. ⁴⁵ But good will come to King Solomon. The throne of David will keep its place before the Lord forever.” ⁴⁶ So the king told Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and he went out and killed Shimei. The nation was put under the rule of Solomon.
